Monthly Exhibitions at Todmorden Information Centre
Terms & Conditions

Every month since it opened in 1988, Todmorden Information Centre has hosted exhibitions displaying the work of artists and craft workers, predominantly those based in the Todmorden area, as well as displays by local voluntary and community groups. The Information Trust has itself organised occasional exhibitions to celebrate the rich heritage of the Todmorden area. The monthly exhibitions continue to be a popular and essential part of the Information Centre’s service. In September 2007 Todmorden Information Centre Trust embarked on a new independent era, with the major part of the centre’s funding provided by Todmorden Town Council.

Exhibition Arrangements
Exhibitions are arranged through contact with the manager at the Information Centre. The Trust welcomes artists, craftspeople and photographers to apply for inclusion in the exhibition programme and exhibitors are advised that booking is usually finalised several months ahead. The exhibition materials must be of scope and quality to attract and interest visitors to the Information Centre and the Trust reserves the right to refuse to exhibit materials deemed inappropriate.

The exhibition space available consists of spot lit, wall mounted, fabric covered boards in three sections approx: 3.0, 2.5 and 2.0 metres length. Lightweight exhibits may be fixed by Velcro tape. Picture hooks or screwed mirror plates may be used for heavier items. Fixing materials are the responsibility of the exhibitor. Exhibits will be on display and available for purchase throughout normal opening times. Exhibitors are advised to visit the Centre to discuss requirements.

Exhibitors are responsible for setting up and dismantling exhibits. Exhibitions run from the first day of the month to the last day of the month, unless otherwise arranged, and exhibitors should normally dismantle the exhibition on the last day to allow the incoming exhibitor access to the space on the following day.

The Trust is happy to arrange cover for an "exhibition opening" event if required. Provision of refreshments etc at such an event will be the responsibility of the exhibitor who should discuss a possible time and other requirements with centre staff.

Publicity for the exhibition should also be discussed with the Centre staff so that requirements can be co-ordinated.

While all possible care will be taken with exhibition materials and the exhibition space will be constantly supervised, the Trust will not be responsible for reimbursement for loss or damage to exhibits however caused. Exhibitors may wish to insure exhibition materials appropriately.

Donations, fees and commission charges
Individual exhibitors and Art Groups will be charged a total exhibition fee of £50.00 in two payments.

A non-returnable deposit of £25.00 will be payable when booking. This will confirm the booking and reserve the exhibition space.

Should an exhibitor cancel the booking the fee will be forfeit. It may be possible to rearrange the exhibition date with another exhibitor or a reserve, in which case the booking fee will be transferred.

On the opening day of the exhibition a further £25.00 will be payable.

A commission of 20% will be charged on the total value of sales, out of this the original £50 booking fee will be refunded. Example, £500 of work sold would result in a total commission of £100 but only £50 would be payable.

All items for sale should be clearly marked with the price. Customers wishing to purchase an exhibit will pay a deposit or in full and normally the exhibit will be marked as sold (with red spot), to be collected and fully paid for at the end of the exhibition period. Exhibitors may wish to allow exhibits to be removed when sold, especially if the purchaser is visiting the area, in order to replace the item with another exhibit. Monies will be paid to the Information Centre. After the exhibition has closed the Trust will submit a sales statement to the exhibitor. The Trust will pay the exhibitor on receipt of an invoice.

For exhibitions by local charities, cultural or community groups, and at the discretion of the Trust, the exhibition fee may be waived. In the majority of these cases, however, the exhibiting group will be invited to make a donation to Trust funds.

Exhibitors are asked to complete the Exhibition Application Form and return it to the Information Centre, along with a £25.00 booking fee to confirm the exhibition booking.
